A cut is the difference between raw footage and a cinematic, engaging documentary. That's the belief my entire long-form editing philosophy is built around. I think the hardest part of editing isn't adding more, it's knowing what not to add. In long-form especially, every cut, transition, and animation has to earn its place. The goal isn't to impress with effects, it's to protect the idea being communicated and get out of the way so it actually lands. That means clean pacing over flashy pacing, and structure that respects the viewer's attention instead of fighting for it every few seconds. I also believe good long-form editing takes real time. It's rarely a one-pass job. I watch footage more than once, test different versions of a cut, and let an edit sit before calling it final, because that's usually when I catch what a first pass misses. Ultimately, my approach is depth over volume. I'd rather spend real time getting one piece right than rush through several. Long-form content especially rewards that kind of attention, since the whole point is holding someone's focus for minutes at a time, not just seconds
